Mapping Refugee Communities and Social InfrastructureThe Multicultural Development Association (MDA) provides settlement services to newly arrived refugees and asylum seekers in South-East Queensland. This process of resettlement includes assisting new arrivals to find housing and settle into their new community.
Business Geographics conducted research on current settlement locations in order to better understand housing affordability, access to key services and community supports and access to education and employment opportunities in these locations. |
Identifying Markets for Indigenous Employment ServicesOur client was looking to optimise recruitment/training strategies in regional Queensland.
We supplied data and mapping services to our client showing the relative concentrations of indigenous persons meeting specific recruitment/training criteria in order to easily identify areas that represent a good opportunity to concentrate recruitment/training efforts. The demographic data used was drawn from the ABS Census Indigenous Profiles to represent areas that have a culture of employment and education. This included the following variables - Indigenous Labour Force Participation Rate, Indigenous Employment to Population %, CDEP Participants, Non-School Qualifications. |
Mapping the Demand for Disability Employment ServicesBusiness Geographics was engaged by our client to conduct a review of the market for Disability Employment Services (DES) in South West Brisbane. The main objective of this report was to identify the current supply of DES in the study area and the perceived level of demand for such services.
This information was analysed to determine any areas of unmet need for DES and locations that represent an opportunity for the establishment of Disability Employment Services that are conveniently located to both persons on Disability Support Pensions and prospective Employment Areas. |
Retail Network AnalysisBusiness Geographics provides custom market analysis services to businesses looking at expanding into new markets.
Our client had a vertically-integrated business catching, processing and supplying local and international, fresh and frozen seafood to wholesalers and the larger retail chains and were interested in developing a retail business that leveraged their supply-chain to sell fresh (local) and frozen (imported) fish and seafood direct to consumers. However they first needed to understand the size of this market and identify areas that represented the best opportunity to establish retail stores. We conducted a review of the retail fish & seafood market including the distribution of existing retail competition and an analysis of the key demand drivers for retail fish & seafood consumption. This included compiling data household expenditure on Fish & Seafood and identifying the demographic characteristics of households that spend more on Fish & Seafood. Finally, we developed a network plan which identified specific retail precincts which represent the best opportunity for potential retail sites, classified into categories. |
